This presentation will describe how to support successful inclusive education opportunities for students with ASD using evidence-based practices for ASD and the CAPTAIN tools and resources. Research tells us that individuals with ASD who have participated in successful inclusive education opportunities have a much better post-secondary outcome. A system of professional development that builds on the principles of implementation science increases the likelihood of the adoption and use of evidence-based practices with fidelity by the teacher, para-educator, SLP, school psychologist, behavior specialist, OT, etc. This workshop will describe how implementation can happen to support students in the least restrictive environment. A CAPTAIN Cadre member who is an Inclusion Specialist in a public school will share real life examples of how to support inclusion of students with ASD successfully using evidence-based practices.
